Nantucket Rose by CF Frizzell

My Review

I can imagine myself lying on the bay at Lighthouse Beach in Nantucket reading this book and soaking up the island atmosphere. I may have to add it to my list of hot spots when I finally make it to Cape Cod and catch the Hyannis to Nantucket Ferry.

Maggie loves her job, she flips houses into high end B&B’s and her newest on Nantucket Island is her favourite yet. She only plans to be there until she can sell the B&B to a bigger corporation but she’s starting to fall for the island and its residents, especially one very handsome sailor. Ellis leads a solitary life. She enjoys working on the island ferry and living on her boat that she is slowly upgrading into a more liveable home. When newcomer Maggie shows her some interest, her usual quiet life could turn her equilibrium off and change her life completely.

I was captivated by this story from the word go and it just kept getting better. It was definitely low on the angst scale but it’s what suited these characters and their story, it was just what I wanted from my weekend read and it did not disappoint.

I think this story is about two different loves, the love between the protagonists but also the love for the island of Nantucket and it inhabitants. I like how Maggie and Ellis are total opposites but their connection is clear from the beginning and they seem to complement each other well.

Sometimes the secondary characters are easily forgotten but it wasn’t the case here. I like Jill’s character and think she has a love story somewhere, she made things interesting closer to the end, Maybe with the Cora the sexy plumber? Who knows.

Can’t wait to see what comes next for CF Frizzell.
