Sometimes the ideal book falls into your lap at the perfect time and that’s what happened with Call To Me. This book totally gave me the feels!!
What was the book about?
Ash is ready to start the next chapter of her life. Fresh out of university she’s prepared to get stuck in at her new career. Her love life is on hold for now until she finds her footing in the big bad world. It’s just her and her new dog Java, and she’s ok with that. That all comes to an end when she meets Dr Evie Jackson.
Evie is a hard-working single mum, and she got her life down pat. If only she had someone special to share her life with. But when she meets Ash at the dog Kennel her life is turned upside down with attraction and want.
Evie and Ash are clearly attracted to each other, but it’s all the other life stuff that keeps getting in the way not to mention they are both in very different places in their life. So being friends would probably be best… right?

Book Strengths
Sometimes the ideal book falls into your lap at the perfect time and that’s what happened with Call to Me. I was locked into the Evie and Ash’s journey from the get-go. What a book. Honestly, between the age-gap and the butch-femme dynamic, I knew this book was for me. The writing is excellent, and the pacing was perfect.
I think Evie was my favourite character. As a mum, I felt like I understood her on a deeper level. She was an incredible character to read, and I was on board for her new and exciting adventure with Ash. I had a big crush on Ash. I am the first to admit that a sensitive, sexy butch is my weakness in WLW fiction. I am a sucker for it, and Ash ticked all my boxes.
I also love an excellent secondary character. In fact, I often find they can make a scene ever better and add some much-needed levity. But I have to say that Kirsty and Harriett were fabulous and I almost want a second book just to hang out with them both again.
Ok… lastly! I can’t believe I am saying this, but there is no epilogue, and it didn’t bother me. Don’t get me wrong I am secretly hoping there was no epilogue because it’s going to be a series or have a sequel. After all, I would be there with bells on for that. But honestly, if it were left right there, then I would be ok with it. Evie and Ash are a match made in heaven so I can only see happily ever afters for them.
Chemistry
The chemistry in this book is off the charts. I thought the sheets might alight from the level of heat that came from the first sex scene. It was unbelievably sexy and yummy for a romance novel. It definitely straddled the line of erotic. Damn it was sexy!
The sexual chemistry between Evie and Ash is only one small element because there is an underlying emotional intensity that just makes their intimate chemistry even more powerful.

Wrap Up
I can’t recommend this book more if I tried. Watch out for Helena Hearte because I think she might be our new lesfic dark horse. Such a beautiful book. I’ve researched this and Call to Me is best enjoyed with a glass of Pinot Noir and some dark chocolate.
